Mesopotamia is the first known civilization. They are the true backbone of humanity . They have invented so many things that we still use today including punishments, laws, sailboats, weapons, city-states, and social classes. These are just some of the great ideas of this civilization we all could benefit from.

In 5000 bc nomads from all over came together because somehow they found out that teamwork is better.then they learned how to farm , grow livestock and make valuables like pottery , beads , and jewelry. Eventually this great civilization came to a fall. There was an invasion by Alexander the great. He conquered the civilization completely. Of course this happened after a long period of time which means there were many other leaders of the land.

three . Shamshi Adad was remarkable because he established the first assyrian empire , Hammurabi  is by far the most important leader. He is incredible because he came up with a list of laws and punishments similar to the ones we have today. Sargon the great was remarkable because he founded the first empire.

Polytheism. This is where people believe in many gods . people back then came into leadership two ways. You were born into it or you conquered the land and became king. This is a government system that may seem confusing. laws are for people . And there are social classes among the people.

social classes. The priests. Shaved their heads bald so people would know they were priests they wore robe type garments.their responsibilities were to tell people how to act and guide the king on decisions. The high class ; the men wore long beards and skirt type garments . women wore long dresses with one strap low on there shoulder . most of the high class was royalty or merchants.the low class. The men and the women wore the same clothes as the upper class but just cheaper materials. The lower class usually works the fields or would bake mud bricks. The slaves. Either captured from war or getting punished for crimes . these people were often sold to people for work . they had bad clothing because they were prisoners. sadly the people of this fine land didn’t always do good things. They were always at war or breaking laws, so there had to be punishment’s incase laws were broken.

                                            Mesopotamia development/rules ,punishment.

Mesopotamia developed between the tigris and euphrates river. The land had many resources including mud , soil ,water and animals. There are 3 city states . they developed because there were more and more people so they had to divide.the way the law worked back then was very confusing. They had a written rule and for each rule they had a punishment .some rules they had were . you can not steal, you can not kill, you cant say that your dad is not your dad.this is all visibly related to some rules we have today.

So in the end I hope you learned a lot about mesopotamia . This page is full of all the great things they invented back then. The people of mesopotamia invented things like laws, punishments, chariots, sailboats, a variety of weapons and so much more. They are truly the reason we are so advanced today.
